Mother's Day 2022: Changing Lives One by One

Sadly, not every new mom has someone to teach her how to be her child's first and best teacher.

That's where One by One comes in. We train women to be mentors to moms in need - to offer love, support, parent education, and the hope of Jesus Christ to new moms asking for help.

"I had no one."

When Michelle went into labor, she had no one with her. During delivery, her heart - and her baby's - stopped. Then she learned her son had to have surgery to remove a section of diseased colon. Michelle told the hospital she wanted her One by One mentor, Karen, with her during the surgery. Karen sat with Michelle at the hospital for the almost five hours her son was in surgery. She prayed with Michelle, watched movies with her to keep her distracted, and asked all the "what next?" questions to the surgeon. There may be complications down the road, but today, mom and baby are doing well, and Michelle and Karen have a wonderful relationship. "I couldn't have done it without her," Michelle says of Karen. "She's amazing. I love that I can text her and ask, 'what do you think about this?' I don't have that from anyone else in my life. She helps me out so much."
